PHP Everywhere Conference

PHP Everywhere Conference

Yesterday, we, the people behind the scenes at this wondrous, God-inspired, awesomeness thing in the depths of the Internet called Auction.ph (that still left me an impression of doubting that people knew we even exist and that we could also try to change our tagline to “Just like Ebay” so that people wont need to ask what our site does) went to PHP Everywhere Conference held at Crown Regency Hotel in Makati. The conference was organized by the PHP User Group Philippines, Inc. and it was named the “The 1st PHP Developer’s Conference in the Philippines.”

Like the rest of the firsts, it was a busy day. Taking aside the fact that the schedules were 3 hours behind, it was kinda fun (playing PSP behind the scene) too. I learned quite a bit like CakePHP, Symfony and other CMS stuff, but in general, aside from learning a few good framework we could use (if I even have any ability of using them), I didn’t learn anything more than that. Although there was a point in it that I almost fell asleep ahem to the speaker with the midnight session voice, I still kept myself awake just like a good girl (Oh wait, I forgot that I was a male while there) does after drinking a few cups of brewed coffee. The coffee was great, by the way. Just like what I preferred it, black and strong. Going back to the topic, there were lots of popular online figure there too like Aileen Apolo of Google and dudes from other popular site like Tipid PC and Sulit.com.ph. I can’t remember their names nor I can remember their faces, so don’t bother asking. There were lots of raffle prizes too (in fact, the only thing that kept people awake). Too bad, I didn’t get one. sob sob Dexie got a licensed Zend Software for simply staying until the last moment, Cyril got a teddy bear (is that even a bear?) for pretending that he was actually listening and went so far as to join the “class recitation”, Drew got a Gunbound BlueDragon plushie, and even Gerry got an MU cap. (I want a Mobius cap too!! T_T) Oh, speaking of Mobius, kuya Bob was there too, as a speaker though. He was recommending this framework called Symphony. To me, it seems as if it’s just like Agavi. Only, Symphony seemed easier to use and manipulate.

Oh, and pictures will come later. I’ll have to snag them out of Dhon first since I don’t have a DigiCam because I am a poor (both money and intellectual-wise) person as it is already given.
