Every day I see you smile,
But once in a while, I see you cry.
Whenever you smile at me,
Through your eyes I can clearly see
The sadness deep down your heart
Though you hide it from me.
I know it hurts,
But that’s a part of life.
You’ll only realize
How much you love someone
The day you were hurt,
The day you shed tears,
The day your heart bleeds.
But though you love another
As my eyes can clearly see
It would be okay for me
Knowing when you need a shoulder,
Where you can cry on,
And seeking comfort and love,
Somehow you remember me
And I will always be by your side.
Back when I was really young, I keep a poetry journal. I used to compile them all neatly in clear books. Many years had passed, we moved around a lot after we lost our original house. I thought then that I had lost this compilation. But surprisingly, today, as I was cleaning up my stuff, I found this poem compiled neatly with the other old poems. I thought I would post them here, too. I don’t remember the exact day I wrote them anymore (except this poem, where I dated when I wrote it). I just know that I wrote them all back in high school.
